Police are appealing to the public for information after two men were seriously injured in a collision in Newcastle.
Shortly before midnight yesterday (Wednesday), police received a report of a one-vehicle collision on Great North Road, Gosforth.
It was reported that a grey Volkswagen Passat car was travelling northbound when for reasons yet to be established, it has left the carriageway and collided with a tree in the central reservation.
Emergency services attended where the driver of the Volkswagen and two passengers – all men in their 20s – were taken to hospital for treatment.
Two of the men, who were passengers in the vehicle, remain in hospital with serious injuries.
A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
Since the collision, a number of enquires have been carried out by Northumbria Police’s Roads Policing team.
Officers are now appealing to the public for information to help understand the moments leading up to the collision.
