Officers have released images of a man they are looking to trace as they continue to investigate a report of a rape in South Tyneside.

Police received a report that a woman in her 20s had made plans to meet up with a man in the Tyne Dock area on the evening of Saturday, December 30, 2023.

He has then proceeded to rape her near to Boldon Lane before leaving the area.

An investigation was immediately launched, and the victim continues to be supported by specially-trained officers.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out by officers since the report was first made, including a recent review of CCTV footage. Following this, today (Wednesday), they have released images of man who they would like to speak to.
