Officers have released footage of a man they’d like to trace as they continue to investigate a report of a firearm being discharged in a Newcastle street.
At around 4.30am on Monday, December 16, officers received a report that a suspected firearm had been discharged at a property on Beaumont Terrace in Westerhope, causing damage to a window and wall.
Thankfully, no one was injured.
Following the report, a full investigation was launched by officers.
As part of the investigation, four men – aged 29, 36, 38 and 53 – were subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
All four have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Extensive enquiries have been carried out by Northumbria Police to understand the circumstances surrounding the event.
Today (Wednesday), officers have released new images and CCTV footage of a man they are looking to identify in relation to the investigation.
He was in the area at the time the report was made and officers believe he may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Leading on the investigation is Detective Chief Inspector, Rebecca Fenney, of the Force’s Major Investigation Team (MIT).
She said: “We’re continuing our enquiries to better understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and have today issued CCTV and images of a man we would like to identify.
